Far-right Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir claims senior US Republicans have supported his call to bomb food storage facilities in the Gaza Strip.
During a meeting with prominent Republican Party members at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on Tuesday evening, Ben-Gvir stated that Tel Aviv needs to begin bombing “the food and aid warehouses” in Gaza.
“This is the way to create military and political pressure (on Hamas) to bring our hostages home safely,” he said in a message on X.
Ben-Gvir added that the Republicans “expressed support for my clear stance on how action should be taken in Gaza—that food and aid depots should be bombed to create military and political pressure to bring our hostages home.”
Republican House Majority Whip Tom Emmer was among the attendees.
Israel unilaterally broke a two-month ceasefire agreement with Hamas on March 18 and resumed its devastating attacks on the besieged Palestinian territory.
Ever since, Israeli forces have killed at least 1,928 people in Gaza, bringing the total death toll since October 2023 to over 51,300, according to the health ministry in n Gaza.
The ceasefire agreement that was reached in January facilitated the release of Israeli captives held in Gaza in return for the release of hundreds of Palestinian detainees.
